Gardening
In latter years I took more of an interest in Gardening. Until then I used to keep the lawn clipped every week or so, but never tried to grow edible or colourful produce.
I did however, become interested in growing annual bedding flowers. So I filled pots and containers with daffodils, tulips, cyclamen, begonia and similar colourful flowers as the seasons progressed. By carefully planning I could nurture containers of each to flourish with easily grown flowers in sequence, so we always had two or three pots to display and to move round in the garden.
I was fortunate to have a sack truck that enabled a weak old geriatric to move these heavy but colourful pots from place to place as the plants flowered and their seasons burst into life. This modest gardening was very fulfilling for me and enabled us to have a show of colour throughout the winter as well as when the growing season developed more quickly in the spring sunshine.
Recently we had some troughs fitted opposite our dining room window so that we could see a splash of colour from the dining room table. This had the added benefit of having the containers at a convenient level for tending.
