Spring 2019
This year, well in advance of St David's Day, we all saw daffodils sprouting everywhere. We had plenty in the front and back gardens and they heralded the early spring. By chance our florist delivered daffodils amid the most recent arrangement, we were given a generous bunch of flowers, including daffodils, from Bron's cousin, then on Sunday when I retired as organist at Trinity I was given even more daffodils for Bron. (They gave me a wind-up hunter watch with chain and a pair of socks emblazoned with the words: foot-notes). To top all this, we went to a St David's Day banquet in the Guildhall in London on Monday 4th March where Bron came away with our table display of yet more flowers. The house was awash with flowers, especially with daffodils.
The guildhall banquet was a glittering occasion put on by the London-Welsh society. Huw Edwards of BBC fame was the keynote speaker and music was provided by alumni of the Royal Welsh College of Music. The food was rather good too.
